The title of doctor was obtained after completing 6.5 years of a Bachelor degree in Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS). Currently, Australia does not recognise this qualification as a mainstream medical profession. Ayurvedic doctors in Australia are registered by the Australasian Association of Ayurveda (AAA) and this qualification is recognised in Australia by VETASSESS as a naturopath equivalent.
