he central concept of Ayurvedic medicine is the theory that health exists when there is a balance between the three fundamental bodily bio-elements or doshas called Vata, Pitta, and Kapha.
Vata governs all movement in the mind and body. It controls blood flow, elimination of wastes, breathing and the movement of thoughts across the mind. Since Pitta and Kapha cannot move without it, Vata is considered the leader of the three Ayurvedic Principles in the body.
The pitta dosha can be thought of as the faultless balance of two seemingly opposing elemental qualities, fire and water. Together, they are the energetic force that regulates the body’s transformative functions; its digestion, its metabolism, even the body’s hormones are believed to be controlled by pitta.
Kapha dosha controls muscle growth, body strength and stability, weight, and your immune system. You can disrupt it by sleeping during the day, eating too many sweet foods, and eating or drinking things that contain too much salt or water.
