Learn all you need to know to perform an authentic Ayurvedic (Indian) head massage and discover its multiple health, beauty and wellbeing benefits.
About the workshop
This three-hour workshop will cover both the theory and practice of an Ayurvedic head massage.
Ayurvedic Doctor Ram Mani Bhandari will first introduce you to the Ayurvedic principles of traditional Indian head massage with an emphasis on the significance of marmas (energy points) that are located on the head.
He will teach you how to perform the massage correctly on the head, neck and face, and how to choose Ayurvedic oils to suit a particular body constitution (dosha) to optimise health and beauty outcomes.
What the workshop includes
What is Ayurvedic head massage?
Ayurvedic head massage is both a therapeutic and a beauty treatment. This ancient practice has been used for over a thousand years in India to restore and maintain health and beauty.
It involves using a specific sequence of movements including energy balancing techniques, lymphatic drainage, acupressure/marma points, stretching and general massage to the shoulders, neck, face and scalp. Using a specially formulated herbal oil blend, the massage enhances relaxation, stimulates the circulatory and lymphatic systems, and helps improve skin and hair condition.
Ayurvedic head massage can be given or received almost anywhere as it does not require any special equipment. The receiver remains fully clothed, seated in a chair or can sit cross legged on the ground.
