[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

In Australia, winter season (June-Aug) is dry, cold, and windy. This kind of season is associated with the Vata Dosha, which increases the Vata qualities of dry, cold, rough, and coarse. This means we must be careful to keep Vata in balance and not to aggravate Kapha. Skin appears to age in the winter season due to Vata dosha. The symptoms of dryness, cracking, dullness, and roughness of the skin occurs in winter.

Ayurveda states that your skin needs extra care in winter and Ayurvedic skincare methods can be helpful. Ayurveda offers some simple and effective solutions for this season.

Ayurvedic oil massage (Abhyanga)

There is no better way to keep your skin happy other than warm oil massage. During the winter, use cold-pressed black sesame oil or Vata massage oil before a daily shower or bath. The warm oil massage helps to improve circulation and support to reduce bodily stress. Try to keep the oil for 15-30 minutes before washing up. When you are taking the shower, be careful not to use too hot water or overuse common soaps, which expel the moisture from the skin and turn your skin too dry.

The Ayurvedic massage keeps your skin silky, smooth, and moist, tones the muscles, calms your nervous system, and eventually balance the Vata dosha.

If you cannot manage a regular oil massage at home, visit an Ayurvedic centre for a regular Ayurvedic oil massage and herbal steam bath. Herbal steam bath after the oil massage helps to get the oil absorbed into the deeper tissues and relax the muscle further.
